Vice President

Our client
is seeking a Vice President for their Edmonton
based operations who will have overall
responsibility for the operations and business
development of the organization. The Vice
President will participate with the senior
leadership team in implementing the company’s
strategy, core values and ensuring the company's
effectiveness.
This role reports directly to the CEO, and
will be accountable for providing leadership in
developing, executing and achieving the
organization's short and long-term strategic
goals, which encompass: effective project
management, business development, driving revenue
and profitability, maintaining client and
stakeholder satisfaction, and establishing new
market initiatives. In addition to being a key
member of the senior leadership team, this
individual will also be responsible in providing
effective management of its human and financial
resources.
Essential Job Functions
Strategy and Leadership Development
- Create and foster a safe, collaborative and respectful culture and working environment;
- Support a corporate culture that encompasses the highest ethical standards and is aligned with the company’s core values;
- Provide leadership to ensure the successful execution of the operational plan;
- Commit to the structured development of leadership talent and the ongoing effectiveness of succession planning; and
- Develop and implement a strategic plan that includes specific goals and performance measures.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee sound operational and financial management and ensure alignment with the approved strategies and objectives of the business;
- Provide leadership to oversee key functional area activities and guide members of the operational team;
- Enable the team to ensure they have capacity to achieve the strategic plan;
- Assess and effectively provide direction to support risk management processes and strategies;
- Provide stewardship for contracts and project execution;
- Ensure risk contingencies, accurate direct costs and targeted profit margins are built into all tender estimates and executed as per plan;
- Oversee that projects are on or ahead of schedule to the satisfaction of all stakeholders at or above targeted margins;
- Demonstrate ownership and responsibility of issues within the organization; collaborate with corporate expertise for advice and support;
- Conduct monthly project reviews; and
- Prepare documentation and regularly report on an annual business plan including a financial plan, business development plan, human resources and training requirements, and capital expenditures.
Business Development
- Maintain, enhance, and
secure desired profitability in alignment with the
approved business plan;
- Establish, maintain and grow productive strategic relations with all key existing and new customers, consultants, trades, suppliers, and other stakeholders;
- Build on a proven track
record of profitably to continually grow the
business;
- Lead the team in new
business development initiatives; and
- Contribute and participate
in the corporate business development initiatives
as directed.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ of
professional experience preferred with a minimum
of five years of executive-leadership experience
in an operations role;
- Solid educational background including an undergraduate degree and an MBA or equivalent experience;
- Proven effective
relationship builder and communicator with
experience engaging clients and community
partners; and
- Oil & gas or other heavy industrial construction sector experience preferred but not required.
