Project Manager

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Project Manager to manage projects in accordance with the organization's project management guidelines, policies, and the terms of the specific contract. This position will manage and oversee the project, ensuring the clients are satisfied with the job and that production is done in the most economical and efficient way possible.


Essential Job Functions

  • Manages all activities and functions of assigned area that will impact overall operations, budget, personnel, quality control and safety performance;
  • Plans, executes, monitors, controls and closes out all assigned projects, in strict accordance with the PLC and supporting SOPs. This includes activities with respect to mobilization, demobilization, manpower requirement, scheduling of company equipment, materials and facilities, to ensure work is efficiently and effectively executed;
  • Works closely with support services personnel to optimize organizational resources;
  • Ensures compliance with all customer requirements and specifications;
  • Coordinates day-to-day operational activities of assigned projects and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition;
  • Develops and helps to execute marketing plans to seek new business, while managing current clients, to ensure profitability, increase market share, growth and expansion;
  • Provides updates and submit reports of activities to senior management related to performance, schedules and other business conditions/issues and changes on assigned projects;
  • Liaises with clients throughout duration of projects;
  • Assumes a leadership role in managing project, staff and maintaining safety standards;
  • Works to support and develop assigned team members to increase their skills, professional satisfaction and contribution to the organization;
  • Mentors, trains and reviews performance of assigned team members and manager performance issues among team members;
  • Visits project sites on a regular basis;
  • Other duties as required.

Educational requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Drafting and Design or other related discipline;
  • PMP Certification preferred;
  • Specific training in construction project management would be an asset;
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work experience

  • Must have minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Project Management role;
  • Must have significant experience with projects in oil & gas, or other heavy industrial construction sector.

  • Possesses supervisory and leadership skills;
  • Communicates effectively with subcontractors, superintendents, engineering staff, consultants and owner’s representatives;
  • Maintains discretion in dealing with confidential information;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism;
  • Maintains excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets complex documents (IFC drawings, technical specifications;
  • Works well under pressure and within a fast-paced environment, and works with minimal supervision;
  • Manages multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and shifts priorities when necessary;
  • Proficient with Windows, Internet Explorer, and MSOffice (Word, Excel, Outlook and Project);
  • Proficient in the use of applicable project scheduling and job costing software.

  • All internal departments;
  • External suppliers, vendors, and clients.

Working conditions

  • Inter-Provincial travel may be required (to project sites);
  • Edmonton, AB based office.
