General Foreman

Our behalf
of our client, we are seeking an experienced
General Foreman who is a recognized expert in the
profession, who assumes a leadership/mentor role
by providing guidance to project staff and/or
other managers. The General Foreman is responsible
for the smooth functioning of the day to day
operations by developing and monitoring
performance against the agreed upon field project
plans and schedule, including quality control,
safety, and the delegation of work to field staff,
contractors and trades people, ensuring that
projects are completed on time and within budget.
This is a site-based shift position. Shift
cycle will depend on the project assigned at the
time the position commences. Shift schedule
to be determined.
Essential Job Functions
- Ensures that projects are built according to approved plans and specifications and that efficiency in labour and materials maintain high quality standards;
- Ensures that site safety measures meet or exceed the parameters set out by corporate safety manual, WCB or any other relevant authorities;
- Reviews, maintains and updates the construction schedule, ensures milestone and completion dates are met;
- Oversees the care and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment on the project to maximize use while on the job site and returns equipment to storage when no longer required;
- Reviews sub-trade/supplier invoices against the field purchase orders and report any discrepancies to the Project Manager or the accounting department;
- Manages hourly employees as required, to complete the project in consultation with the Construction Manager and maintains, approves and submits hourly time cards with all necessary details for job costing purposes;
- Prepares field change orders to be signed by project owner or representative when requested;
- Maintains daily log;
- Performs other duties as required.
Educational requirements
- Journeyman Insulator ticket or relevant trade and industry experience;
Work experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Foreman role in the insulation industry;
- A strong safety record is essential;
- Must have experience with respect to industrial insulation, projects in oil & gas, or other heavy industrial construction sector.
Skill requirement
- Ability to plan and manage project schedule;
- Understanding of construction documents and the ability to ensure that they are complete, protect the owner’s interest, clearly define expectations and provide incentive to perform;
- Contract negotiation/management skills;
- Knowledge of construction costs and budgets;
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals and build a cohesive team to achieve optimal performance;
- Excellent written and verbal skills.

- Site work, location to fluctuate;
- Edmonton, AB based office.
