Knowledge Consultant - Mining

Vancouver, BC


This is a permanent full time  position.

Our client, a major software provider and worldwide leader in delivering comprehensive solutions to the mining and geoscience industry, is looking for a Knowledge Consultant - Mining. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a variety of environments from client training to project work. The incumbent will collaborate to enhance the client’s ability to increase their profitability and efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

  • To add value to our clients’ software implementation and use through requirement gathering, customization, solution development, problem solving, training, testing, deployment, and support.

Essential Job Functions

Solutions Consulting/Training:
  • Delivery of consulting services, participate in solution design and implementation;
  • Participates in implementation of complete project solution;
  • Works on multiple projects and helps to ensure delivery of service within scope of each project;
  • Designs and delivers training courses as required.

Technical and Product Support:
  • Develop, modify and maintain product customizations including reports, data entry screens, integration adapters…;
  • Demonstrates sound product knowledge and understanding of scope of product, its functionality and application to industry;
  • Provides support to resolve customer / user requirements;

  • Provides feedback on product direction, improvements and enhancements;

  • Participates in quality assessment and testing of pre-release product improvements and enhancements;

  • Builds legacy Product expertise to keep up to date with latest technologies.

Business Development:
  • Contributes to business development strategy for services;

  • Helps to analyze client product use and identifies business opportunities for services and sales;

  • Participates in the preparation and submission of proposals, bids and tenders;

  • Contributes to Initiating, maintaining and building client relationships;

  • Help analyze client product use and identifies business opportunities for services and sales.

Educational requirements and experience

  • University degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or Computer Science;

  • 4+ years in consulting and customer facing position;

  • Minimum 2 years experience in the mining industry;

  • Earth Sciences studies is a plus;

Technical Requirements and experience:

  • Microsoft SQL server (2008 , 2012);
  • SQL language, Stored Procedure/Function development and maintenance;
  • SQL configuration, setup and maintenance;
  • SQL server reporting Services;
  • Visual Studio 2008, 2012;
  • Windows 2003/2008/2012 server support;
  • Scripting, visual basic;
  • Report creation using systems such as Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Business Objects or similar;

Personal attributes:

  • Motivated, dynamic, articulate, responsible, organized, problem solver;
  • Enjoys travel;
  • Able to work within a project timeframe;

Languages:

  • English - Excellent reading, oral and written communication;
  • Spanish - a strong plus.

Working conditions

  • Office work environment;
  • Travel may be required in North America and Mexico (up to 20% max).
